Dr Fanie Steyn

Known as: “THE MAIN BRAIN”

Dr Fanie qualified as a Veterinarian (B.V.Sc.) at Onderstepoort Veterinary College. Where after he became one of Ramsem’s Veterinary Reproductive Team Leaders in Embryo flushing, transfer and laparoscopic inseminations in sheep and goats. He is currently Director at Ramsem (Pty) Ltd, Absolute Wagyu (Pty) Ltd and Absolute Genetics (Pty) Ltd.

Dr Fanie has great insight on genetic selection and breed advancement and available for advice in this regard.

Dr Collin Albertyn

Known as: “THE A TEAM ”

Dr Collin completed his B.Sc. Agriculture degree at the University of the Free State with honours in Wildlife at the University of Pretoria. After qualifying as a Veterinarian (B.V.Sc.) from Onderstepoort, he joined Embryo Plus with his focus on artificial reproductive techniques (ART) in cattle, traveling to neighbouring countries and further north to work in Kenya and Sudan. He is a director of Winburg Veterinary Clinic (Pty) Ltd, as well as Absolute Wagyu (Pty) Ltd and Absolute Genetics (Pty) Ltd.

With years of cattle reproductive experience, Dr Collin is responsible for the reproductive health of the Absolute Wagyu herd and available for any advice in this regard. He can also advise regarding breeding and genetics selections.

Dr Thomas Steyn

Known as: “THE GENERAL”

Dr Thomas qualified as a Veterinarian (B.V.Sc.) at Onderstepoort Veterinary College. Where after he became one of Ramsem’s Veterinary Reproductive Specialist, in laparoscopic insemination, embryo flushing and transfer on sheep and goats. He is one of the Directors of Ramsem (Pty) Ltd, as well as Absolute Wagyu (Pty) Ltd and Absolute Genetics (Pty) Ltd.

As managing director, Dr Thomas is responsible for herd management, genetic selections and sales. He can advise you in this regard.

Lukas van Zyl

Known as: “THE MINISTER OF FINANCE”

After serving as a Lieutenant in the South African Defence Force, Lukas obtained his B.Sc. Agricultural Economy degree and honours from the University of the Free State. As Agricultural Economist his road led to Silostart as Trading Director. He is also a director at Absolute Wagyu (Pty) Ltd and Absolute Genetics (Pty) Ltd.

Lukas is responsible for all financial facets of Absolute Wagyu.

Dr Willie van Heerden

Known as: “KALF MEESTER”

Dr Willie qualified as a Veterinarian (B.V.Sc.) at Onderstepoort Veterinary Academic Hospital. He practices as Veterinarian at Riebeeckstad Veterinary Clinic, with his main focus is on Wildlife. He is one of our directors at Absolute Wagyu (Pty) Ltd.

Dr Willie is responsible for recipient and calf health. He raises the calves until a certain age, where they are then introduced to the main herd. Wagyu calves are challenged in our climate and condition. Dr Willie can advise regarding treatment and prevention methods on calf diseases.

Sr Mandy Albertyn

Known as: “THE A TEAM”

Mandy has been a veterinary nurse since 2004. After completing her studies, she started out in the UK and later moved back to Pretoria. Ten years later she shifted her focus to embryo work mainly in South Africa, but also accompanied Dr Collin Albertyn, her husband, to Kenya, Sudan and other neighbouring countries for this specialized service.

Mandy works for Zoetis, a Global leader in Animal Health, while supporting and promoting the Absolute Wagyu Team where ever we need her. Mandy can advise regarding selection and breeding.

Marietjie Krüger

Known as: “THE INNOVATOR”

Marietjie obtained her B.Sc. Agriculture degree in Animal Science from the University of the Free State. She first worked in the poultry industry but soon realized that she wants to pursue a career in animal genetics. 

Marietjie is responsible for basic herd administration and can advise regarding genetics available and selection thereof. Marietjie completed the Wagyu Inspection course in 2018 and can assist in this regard.

Ben Pretorius

Known as: “THE WINGMAN”

Ben completed his bachelor’s degree in Animal Production Management at the University of the Free State. Coming from a dairy background, Ben travelled to America where he worked on a Holstein dairy farm, with the second year as a dairy Reproduction Specialist. After his internship he returned home and joined the Absolute Genetics team.

Ben is responsible for basic management, vaccinations and reproduction of the herd. He can advise on processes and procedures in the regard.

Johannie Coertz

Known as: “THE FIXER”

Johannie obtained her bachelor’s degree in Business Management at the University of the Free State. She started out in the property industry and now takes a leap into the unknown joining the Absolute team.

Johannie is responsible for herd administration, debits and credits, as well as marketing. She can assist you in this regard.
